Since the strikes started, airlines have cancelled thousands of flights disrupting millions of passengers. Just during the latest strike on October 12, half of flights out of Orly Airport and 30% flights out of Charles de Gaulle were cancelled.
Currently, rail services are limited, causing congestion and delays. The French railways union will vote daily whether to continue striking, including the Paris transport system, buses, trams, metro, and trains, which are calling for indefinite strike.
Although some transportation is available, there are long lines and crowds, which make the situation quite precariousĀ considering the Travel Alert and the potential for terrorist attacks.
French ports are also staging strikes causing sea traffic to be diverted to other ports.
Traffic is also a mess, the lack of public transportation has forced more cars on the road resulting in traffic congestions and turning taxi drivers into expensive commodities.
Avoid getting stranded in the airport or another country. Consider canceling or adjusting your travel plans.
