It was like taking a trip around the world in one day, in one place. The Travel and Adventure Show returned to Rosemont over the weekend, featuring some of the biggest names in travel like Samantha Brown, Rick Steves and Pauline Frommer. Taking it all in, I saw culinary demos, met sled dogs, listened to music and watched others ride the mechanical bull.

There were more than 250 representatives from across the globe, including U.S. and international destinations. Experts were on hand to help attendees plan trips to Africa, Antarctica, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, India, Mexico, the UK – even Cuba.

The Travel and Adventure Show is the longest-running series of consumer travel events in the U.S. with shows in Los Angeles , Bay Area (Santa Clara), Chicago, Washington D.C. and Dallas.

According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, “One billion tourists traveled the world in 2012, marking a new record for international tourism—a sector that accounts for one in every 12 jobs and 30 percent of the world’s services exports.”

If you weren't there, mark your calendar for January 2014 and start dreaming about where you want to go.
