Trattoria Diane in roslyn, has been a family favorite for many years and our love for the restaurant and bakery has extended to our grown married children. Diane's owner/hosts Diane and John Durkin, are very special people as well as fabulous cooks, ,who give back generously to the north shore community.

The summer is an ideal time to visit this charming old world slice of "americana" where the food is consistently fine and the service exceptional.We visited the restaurant with friends on a Friday evening, and sat in the spacious main dining room.. The Trattoria is always busy and is one of Roslyn's most popular restaurants with a loyal following from around Long Island.

We began our Diane's Tuscan dining with an assortment of delicious appetizers:

-A glorious caesar salad made with bright green romaine lettuce, croutons, and a parmesan cheese coating.

-Tuna Tartare salad- finely chopped sashimi quality tuna made with avocado, shallots and a special soy citrus dressing

-Fresh mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, basil, pesto sauce

Our "Act One" was a perfect prelude to a delightful and totally satisfying group of entrees....

For our entrees we selected some of Diane's renowned specialty dishes:

"Chicken Under A Brick"- large breast of chicken tender with golden brown skin, served with brussel sprouts, and butternut squash. The chicken was moist, and literally melted in your mouth!

"Tuscan Pot Roast" - An all time favorite..a pot roast that mother never could have made, with Parmesan mashed potatoes and snap peas. Beautifully plated, mouthwateringly delicious and quickly consumed and savored.

"Pan Seared Salmon"- A generous portion of delectable pink salmon made with lentils, beets, and sauteed spinach.

We relaxed and soaked in the friendly atmosphere. enjoyed a glass of wine and then delighted in a tray of assorted Diane's amazing cake and pie slices on beautiful china platter. Diane's desserts are world famous and her cookies, brownies fruit tarts and pies are totally "off the chain" fabulous.

We had spent a fantastic evening at one of our favorite restaurants where each and every year, it just keeps getting better! We look forward to many more summer evenings and to dine at the latest diane's addition: The fabulous outdoor wooden deck with casual dining, drinks and music.

Kudos to John and Diane for years of consistently wonderful dining!
