Trash truck turns over in Bristol Pa. and sends three to hospital

A full size trash truck apparently lost it's brakes and flipped onto another vehicle, seriously injuring several people. To look at the photo and say there are no fatalities is truly a miracle. The incident happened just before 3:00p.m. today, July 29 2014 at the intersection of 413 and Interstate 95. That intersection has seen it's share of fatal accidents and serious crashes.

While the crash is under investigation by the Bristol Twp.Police Dept.,a preliminary cause is faulty brakes on the truck. It appears that the truck was exiting from the Interstate and the driver lost his brakes. He was trying to turn the truck over before it ran down the highway out of control. The truck did turnover, on top of a mini van. The occupants of that vehicle were trapped for about 20 minutes.

A heavy duty rotator crane was special called from a tow truck yard just up the street to stabilize the truck. A small fuel spill happened and that was cleaned up . The road was closed for several hours as heavy duty wrecker trucks cleared the mangled metal. Fire Police set up cones and signs to direct traffic from 413 to I-95. The road was open just before 8:00 p.m.

The truck will be inspected and a full crash report will be done. That can take weeks. At this point it is to early to determine what, if any charges will be filed, police on scene said. Police credit the quick work of first responders for making this outcome what it is and saving the lives of those involved.
