Transitioning from student to professional: University shows that image counts

The Illinois Institute of Technology in collaboration with the offices of Student Affairs and Career Management is hosting an event devoted to preparing current IIT students and alumni on how to look their best at a career fair.

There have been scheduled activities leading up to this event including, the Spring 2013 Career Fair which is taking place on February 21, the Career Management Center will host a campus-wide Professional Dress Day on Tuesday, February 12, 2013. These events are scheduled for IIT students and alumni only.

Faculty and staff members who come to work that day in professional attire are asked to pick up and wear an “Ask me about my outfit” sticker which will be made available in various offices. Students will be able to see different outfits that exemplify professional attire and ask faculty and staff members’ questions about their professional dress.

Other activities lined up for the month of February devoted to Professional image include:

Fashion Show sponsored by Campus Life & Women’s Services on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 12:45p.m. it will be held in the MTCC Ballroom, student models will showcase designs provided by Ann Taylor and the Men’s Warehouse. There will also be a $100 raffle from Ann Taylor and 50% off coupons provided by the Men’s Warehouse.

Haircuts provided by Paul Mitchell on February 14th, 15th, 18th, held at MTCC. Want to have a clean polished professional look? Plan to visit the team from Paul Mitchell and look your best!

Makeup by Mary Kay–Diva Dash provides students with quick makeup tips on how to create a great look in a dash for the office and interview settings. Mini-makeovers will be provided for female student attending the Career Fair. This takes place from 9:00a.m-12:00 p.m. at the MTCC first come, first served. We hope to see you there!
