Transformers 4 has already started building their set in downtown Detroit, and the rumors have begun flying on Twitter and Facebook. They're supposedly starting to film today, says @raginnation, which would be corroborated by another tweet that says that Mark Wahlberg is already in town, and staying at the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham.
What we do know for sure is this:
- Much of the movie will be filmed at the Michigan Motion Picture Studios in Pontiac
- A "small town" is being built downtown, on Washington Blvd. at Clifford - pictures of this can be found on Twitter, too
- The movie will also film in Fairfield Township, MI, close to the Ohio border, a "wheat field-lined stretch of Michigan state highway" M52, which is 65 miles southwest of Detroit. The highway will be closed June 25-29 for the shooting of these scenes.
- Extras casting was held at the Somerset Inn in Troy a few weeks ago, and the producers specifically said they were looking for FBI agents as well as people of Asian heritage and Asian families
Other than those facts, it's all up to speculation. If you do end up seeing Mark Wahlberg or any of the cast/crew in town, leave a comment below.
