Shooting on Transformers 3 was called off on Friday by a city (of Chicago) official after a bank teller working as an extra was critically injured.
Filming was scheduled for completion on Thursday with final scenes being shot at Millennium Park and Midway Plaisance in Chicago. Those plans have now been canceled after Gabriela Cedillo (24) was struck in the head on Wednesday night while filming in Hammond, IL.
Richard Moskal, director of the Chicago Film Office in the Mayor's Office of Special Events said, "Transformers has completed their filming in Chicago. The filming that was canceled (Thursday) was not rescheduled."
Michael Bay's third film in the franchise is set for release on July 1, 2011.
Cedillo remained unconscious on Friday in critical but stable condition at Loyola University Medical Center. Her family was gathered with her at the hospital.
"We haven't talked to her," said her mother Rosa Cedillo. No immediate plans have been made for surgery.
An investigation has been opened on the incident to see exactly what happened and if any action needs to take place.
The film crew issued a statement regarding the situation. "Our thoughts and prayers are with Gabriela, her family and loved ones. We are looking into what caused the accident."
Cedillo's injury occurred as the film crew shot a scene on Cline Avenue in Hammond that involved drivers moving along a busy highway with explosions going off over in the opposite lanes. At that point, a metal object burst through the windshield of her car striking her in the head. Her car then went on moving and skidding along the inner concrete carrier before coming to a stop about a mile away.

Can't wait for this to come out!
Transformers 3 seems to have its problems...
I hope Gabriela Cedillo will be okay...my thought to her and her family.
Oh how I am going to miss Megan Fox!
Now that Transformers has shifted to Detroit there have been steady reports of so-called security cards attacking and harassing passers-by and curious citizens. Apparently the management thinks that bodies are expendable.
Thanks for a great article.
