Here is the transcript of what Jim Harbaugh said on Wednesday afternoon:
On Jon Baldwin:
"He has good so far [through one day]. [He is] someone with great athletic ability and he already has a resume. It's very good. We have to go with what we know about him."
On the backup quarterback situation:
"I think Colt McCoy will go second, while [either B.J. Daniels or Scott Tolzien] go third and fourth. The reps have been evened out in practice. Everyone is working more with the [second team defense]."
On Marlon Moore:
"He is doing a very good job. He [has] worked extremely hard this offseason and had good production in training camp. It has been positive. He is a talented player physically and tough mentally physically [which is] a good combination."
One why Colin Kaepernick was wearing a special black non-contact jersey:
"Kaepernick was in black [because on one] play, Ahmad Brooks came close to him. We reemphasized non-contact so no freakish things [happen] in practice."
On the potential idea of B.J. Daniels being the first backup quarterback:
"It's okay for a rookie to be a backup. We'll see how that plays out. Offensively he has been strictly QB as of late and taking special teams reps."
On the wide receiver competition:
"[There are] lots of options to fill [Jenkins' spot]. I've been impressed with our receiving group with the way they've practiced and performed. From [Austin] Collie, [Lavelle] Hawkins, [Jon] Baldwin], [Chad] Hall and [Ricardo] Lockette we would like to see guys get more reps. There's quite a few receivers that we have that are healthy."
On Nnamdi Asomugha:
"I see talent and improvement meaning a lot to him. He's beenascending and improving since being here on our roster and it's been positive."
On Ian Williams:
"Ian Williams just doing a great job. He's very athletic and strong. There are some noes tackles that are bigger than Ian, but he makes up for it with speed, quickness and athletic ability. His growth continues weekly."
On Glenn Dorsey:
"We're excited about Glenn Dorsey [who is a] proven football player and [has a] great track record. Both guys shore us up at the nose tackle position."
On Kendall Hunter and Vance McDonald:
"Kendall Hunter is ready to go as he [will play on Sunday]. Our medical staff has cleared him as he is back in action in practice. When you dive back in, instincts and senses come back. He appears to have that. [Vance] McDonald practiced and he didn't look like he had lingering effects. [There is] some rust, but he definitely will be back."
On the odds of Jon Baldwin becoming the second receiver behind Anquan Boldin:
"Anything is possible for Baldwin, even though [Kyle] Williams and [Marlon] Moore have a head start. We'll take it day to day and we're excited about him being out there in today's practice. He's got a heck of an opportunity."
On A.J. Jenkins:
"I really feel the same as I did a year ago when I made those comments. I don't think it's fair to bully and label a young player. I prefer that the criticism I would appreciate it if it was directed at me, I'm responsible and I welcome that. I will defend a young player, that is labeled and bullied. I'm responsible for helping pick the picks and responsible for coaching the players up. I accept that."
