Jim Harbaugh spoke on Monday afternoon a day after the 34-3 win over the Texans. He said several players could be practicing after spending time on the Non-football injury list and Physically unable to perform list. Here is the transcript of today's presser:
On the discipline during the game:
"There was good overall play and we were very disciplined in spite of penalties. There were three penalties and was a delay of game on the field goal."
On who stood out in last night's game:
"There were several people to highlight defensively. Tramaine Brock, obviously had two interceptions and had a great pass defended. Carlos Rogers had a good game and so did Tarell Brown. All three cornerbacks played well."
On how successful the running game was in the red zone:
"We were able to pop some runs in the red zone with some multiple [gains of 10 yards or more]. That's hard to do against any team in the NFL. The Texans defense was extremely good."
One how the execution was on both sides of the ball:
"It was a very good game plan executed offensively. The team defense executed. They were able to shutdown and contain passing game. The Texans have a good running game but they move effectively through the air."
On the future of Tramaine Brock this season:
"I'm really pleased with the way Tramaine is ascending. When you play like that, you're going to continue to play. and I'm excited about that."
On the 49ers scout team:
"In the last three weeks, [they have been] doing a good job. Chuck Jacobs is doing nice job. [Vance McDonald and Garrett Celek] have really been good with the offense."
On Jon Baldwin:
"He's an ascending improving player who is doing a great job. Colin Kaepernick and him are building a real trust there and it's positive."
On Michael Wilhoite's performance:
"His production was there with 11 tackles on defense and good open field tackles a couple times. He had two tackles [on special teams]. That's a highlight when a guy is making plays starting on defense and playing on special teams."
On defensive reserves in Brock and Wilhoite stepping it up in place of injured starters:
"Guys get their opportunity to step up and play well. It bodes well for the ball club. We were playing well as a team defense and playing the scheme playing well within it."
On the importance of turnovers:
"It's encouraging getting turnovers. In terms of field position, it made the [Houston] offense go the long route. Good field position increases your percentage of putting points on the board."
On Bruce Miller:
"All things on true on him being a Swiss army knife. [Running backs coach Tom] Rathman is working hard with his technique. He is getting more down the middle and is much more effective. He does so many things for our offense from getting the ball out of the backfield, being the lead blocker and providing extra pass protection."
On Colin Kaepernick's performance:
"He made some big plays in the passing game and missed on a couple. He made one play on a post to Vernon Davis. I marvel at the defensive line of the Texans and their ability to knock passes down [which was a reason for the descending in the passing game]. They were waiting for the quarterback to throw it with no pass rush. They rushed the passer effectively."
"They're seeing something where the quarterback is set to throw from an angle and arm angle and catch the ball. They were able to continue in rush and hit the quarterback."
On Aldon Smith:
"[We've seen] a few texts and heard things are going positive as reports are back. There is no timetable [for his return]."
-Harbaugh said Kendall Hunter, LaMichael James, Anthony Dixon and Jewel Hampton were all acting as Arian Foster while on the scout team in practice this past week.
-Chris Harper is both a wide receiver and tight end.
