For almost all of the Summer, you would be hard pressed to find a whole week of above normal temperatures, however for the first week of Fall, above normal temperatures will be in place as a Pacific air mass replaces a tropical air mass.

With the cold front now exiting off the New Jersey coast, Pacific high pressure will slowly build into New Jersey leading to clearing skies from northwest to southeast. Winds will be from the northwest at 5 to 10 mph this afternoon. Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 80's for highs but the humidity will be much lower.

Tonight, clear skies to scattered cloud cover can be expected as high pressure slowly drifts towards the region. Winds will become light and variable. Temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 60's over northwestern New Jersey and mid to upper 60's along the coast and in urban locations.

Tomorrow on through Friday, tranquil conditions will be in place as high pressure moves right over New Jersey. Winds will be light and variable through the forecast period. Temperatures will range from the mid to upper 60's for lows and mid to upper 80's for highs throughout New Jersey.

A strong cold front will approach on Saturday with increasing clouds and humidity through the day. Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into the mid to upper 80's with a few isolated lower 90's in urban areas. Showers and thunderstorms will develop in the late afternoon and evening hours. Thunderstorms will be capable of frequent lightning, heavy downpours, and wind gusts over 30 mph.

The cold front will exit on Sunday morning with a few lingering showers followed by clearing skies. The drier and cool air mass will finally invade New Jersey by Sunday afternoon. As a result, conditions will remain muggy on Sunday morning with lows in the mid to upper 60's. High temperatures will rise into the upper 70's to lower 80's as dew points crash leading to lower humidity and very comfortable conditions.

High pressure will be in complete control on Monday and Tuesday with clear skies and low humidity. Temperatures will average near to slightly below normal through the period. Low temperatures will range from the upper 40's to lower 50's over northwestern New Jersey and mid to upper 50's along the coast. High temperatures will range from the mid to upper 70's over northwestern New Jersey and upper 70's to lower 80's throughout the rest of the state.
