A short time ago, many dog organizations were present at Cantigny Gardens for their Dog Days. This special event happens only one time each year and when it does, dogs of all sizes, shapes, ages and varieties come out to traipse amongst the grounds of the lovely Park.
One of the service vendors that had a booth at Cantigny this year was adoptaBull; an English Bulldog Rescue. A concurrent portion of this rescue is trainaBull Academy. This portion of the organization allows English and French Bulldog owners the opportunity to explore and learn the proper training methods for these breeds of dogs.
If you have never been around a Bulldog, you may not realize that they have a stubborn side and actually require specialized training in order to make their relationship a mutual one with the human that has chosen to love them. Without training, people tend to abandon their dogs. Many times they end up in shelters; the lucky ones enter breed-specific rescues such as adoptaBull or the Chicago English Bulldog Rescue.
The trainaBull academy serves all of Chicagoland, Northwest Indiana and Southwest Wisconsin. They offer breed specific training options for both English and French Bulldog owners. Mary Sheffke is their Lead Training and Behavioral Consultant. Under her lead, Bulldog owners can choose from a variety of classes for every training need, budget and location available.
Many shelter and rescue Bulldogs attend these classes, but there are also classes for breeder Bulldogs. You can choose the class or classes that are right for your specific canine. Once you pick out your class online, all you have to do is add it to your shopping cart to reserve your dog’s spot. Once it is time to go to class, you will want to ensure that you have emailed proof of your dog’s current vaccinations, the required participant waiver and a brief online registration form so that the class can be built around what dog owners think would apply to their specific pets.
If you do not believe that your dog would do well in another setting but would still like to get them the training that they deserve, there are also private, in-home lessons. All you have to do is phone 855.385.5111 and ask for extension 4 for either public or private dog lessons.
It is nice to know that when a rescue suggests specific training for certain breeds that they have developed the training programs that will work with you. Check out adoptaBull at www.adoptabull.org or their breed specific training by emailing email@example.com. You will not be sorry that you did.
