Trailer review: "Serious Moonlight"

Made by Magnolia Pictures, Serious Moonlight's plot seems to follow a marriage that has fallen apart.  Timothy Hutton's character has been cheating on his wife (Meg Ryan) with Kristen Bell for over a year.  To stop him from leaving Ryan duct tapes her husband to the toilet, and things go crazy from there as their gardener (Justin Long) then decides to rob all three.  The plot of this movie seems pretty ridiculous, but funny, if not predictable.  Like most trailers this one probably showed the audience most, if not all, of the funniest moments

It's nice to see Meg Ryan back in a comedy, she really hasn't done much lately, and she still looks great.  Bell was a surprising addition to this cast, as was Long. Audiences will have to wait to see if they were good choices or not, but the preview makes it seem so. Ryan and Hutton seem to have good chemistry together, and by the end of the movie they will probably be back together.

It was nice to see the movie was directed and written by women (first time director Cheryl Hines, and the late Adrienne Shelly), this could really add something nice to the movie - to give it a women's true perspective.  Shelly showed audiences what she was capable of with her last movie Waitress.  If Serious Moonlight can have even half the spark that Waitress had then audiences are in for a special treat.
