Trail Safety Color Codes

When out on the trails here in Denver area there are many things you can bring with you to stay safe and have an enjoyable ride.  Whether you ride with large groups or on your own, here is a simple color code you can use to indicate horse and rider status to fellow riders on the trail.  All you need to do is tie a ribbon of specific color into your horse’s tail.

Ribbon Color Codes
Red = kicker
Yellow = stallion
Green = inexperienced horse and/or rider
White = vision impairment horse and/or rider

The color code is simple and easy to recognize; an added safety precaution so everyone on the trail enjoys the ride and stays safe.  You may understand each horse and rider’s ability in your group, but when you get out on populated trails or join others and form large groups (or you’re by yourself) this simple color code is helpful to the other riders out there to understand who is on the trail with them and be available for assistance should the need arise.
