This was my first drive of the season on the recently opened Trail Ridge Road and it seems as if even the wildlife came out to celebrate or perhaps it was the lush valley floors covered in sweet spring shoots that drew them out but either way our drive was wildlife rich and still relatively uncrowded. Late spring is in fact one of my favorite times of the year to visit Rocky Mountain National Park as spring runoff has made traversing the entire eight mile Trail Ridge Road possible, but it’s not yet complete so the green valley floors look post-card beautiful framed against the snow covered peaks surrounding them.
