Groups and businesses are invited to enter their scarecrows into the Scarecrow Trail at Prophetstown State Park.
Entry forms are available at the park office or e-mail email@example.com to have one sent to you via e-mail. You can also request a form via fax, call 765-567-4919.
This is a fun event for youth groups, organizations and businesses. The scarecrow is designed and built by the participants, although the signs for your scarecrow will be made by the park staff.
There are some guidelines. The scarecrow must be in good taste; controversial social, cultural and political situations will not be accepted.
Since the scarecrows will be out in the elements for two weeks it should be build it to withstand the rain (or snow!). Water soluble stuffing should be protected by plastic bags. Attach your scarecrow to a 6’ x 2.5” diameter PVC pipe. Scotchgaurd cloth used in the display to minimize mildew. Natural and recycled items can be used. The scarecrow should reflect your group/ business mission.
Registrations are due by Oct. 14 to allow time for the arrangement of the trail. Drop the scarecrow off at the office on SR225 (8 a.m. to 4 p.m.) by Oct. 18 for this event. Retrieve your scarecrow by Nov. 3.
The scarecrows will be on display Oct. 19-31.
Unlike former displays, the trail will not be visible by car. The trail is not fully ADA accessible. If the ground is dry, wheelchairs and scooters can be used with caution.
