After escaping LA for Houston hoping to fly under the radar, Dwight Howard finds himself in a similar position as he did a year ago. On the brink of falling into an 0-3 hole, the Rockets travel to Portland to take on the red-hot Trail Blazers, in a must-see Game 3 that will be televised on ESPN and streaming live on Watch-ESPN.
According to an April 25, 2014, report by Yahoo!Sports, Moda Center at the Rose Quarter in Portland, Ore., will be the site for Game 3 of this best-of-seven series between the (2-0) Houston Rockets and (0-2) Portland Trail Blazers. Opening tipoff is slated for 10:40 p.m. EST (9:40 p.m. CST/7:40 p.m. PST) and it will be broadcast live on big ESPN – and Watch-ESPN live stream (online) – following Game 3 between the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards.
Thus far, it’s been the “LaMarcus Aldridge Show”, as the Portland center comes in with 89 points, 26 rebounds and five blocks through two games, and is the reason for Howard’s frustration. On April 25, 2014, Sam Amick of USA Today goes as far as calling Aldridge the “greatest Blazer ever”.
After scoring 46 point and 18 rebounds in the opener, followed by 43 points and eight boards in Game 2 – both on the road, by the way – the former second-overall pick is beginning to enter a class of Blazers that include: Clyde Drexler, Bill Walton, Terry Porter, Cliff Robinson, Geoff Petrie and others.
Meanwhile, Howard continues to fail to live up to people’s expectations, even after departing from Tinseltown. After being swept in the first round of last year’s NBA playoffs, the man once known as “Superman” is becoming super-irritated.
“We have to play inside out, play their bigs and make it a long night for those guys,” Howard said before Game 2. “I have to demand the ball, get it and go to work.”
If NBA oddsmakers at ESPN.com are correct, the Rockets [+2] are destined to go down 0-3 against the Blazers [-2] this evening. As you can see, Las Vegas latest point spreads list Houston as two-point underdogs and Portland favored by the same margin in the against-the-spread department. The OVER/UNDER for Game 3 equals 214 points, and alternate (straight-up) lines go as follows: Rockets [-150] vs. Portland [+130].
