Tragedy in St. Louis Park

St. Louis Park High School is in a state of mourning after finding out that Carly Christensen, a freshman, passed away Tuesday afternoon after battling the flu.

Christensen who was 14, was also a member of the junior varsity girls basketball team. She is also the fifth person to die from flu-like symptoms this winter.

The girls basketball games at St. Louis Park on Tuesday against Fridley were postponed as well as Saturday afternoon's game at Minneapolis Washburn. Friday night's game against Chisago Lakes, according to athletic site coordinator Shawn Mathews is still on at this time.

Also postponed this weekend is the St. Louis Park girls hockey game against Spring Lake Park/St. Anthony that was scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 PM.

Our condolences go out to the family and friends of Christensen. It's a terrible and shocking tragedy that has had impact on the St. Louis Park girls basketball program. Can they bounce back and win some game for Christensen?
