Traffic stop in Terrell leads to drug arrest

Terrell, Texas- On January 29, 2012, at 10:22 p.m. a Kaufman County deputy made a traffic stop on Brinn Street at Highway 34 in Terrell. That stop led to the arrest of a Terrell man on drug charges.

The deputy pulled the Chevy pickup over and when he approached the vehicle he detected a strong smell of alcohol inside the truck. He noticed an open beer bottle in the front seat, and asked the driver, Joseph Rodriguez, 22, to step out of his vehicle.

The deputy conducted a search of Rodriguez and found that he had drug paraphernalia inside his jacket. According to KCSO Spokeswoman Pat Laney, “As the deputy continued making a search of the vehicle, he found a white plastic container with a set of scales, multiple clear plastic baggies commonly used in the sale of illegal contraband, and a clear plastic baggie containing what is believed to be methamphetamines.” As the vehicle search continued, the deputy found more meth.
