On Thursday the 15th of August in 2013, Shophouse Southeast Asian Kitchen in Georgetown hosted an exclusive preview celebration for the grand opening of their second store in Washington, D.C. It was the biggest Asian feast of this summer. Who knew one establishment could hold so much Asian fast food in one building. Shophouse Southeast Asian Kitchen is a one stop shop for everything Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore from rice or noodle bowls laced with spicy sauces, marinated meats, and a flurry of herbs and vegetables. Talk about tasty traditional Thai fast food.
The celebration took place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. serving jasmine and brown rice; chilled rice noodles; salad; grilled chicken satay; steak lab; pork & chicken meatballs; organic tofu; various fresh vegetables; spicy sauces such as green & spicy red curry sauce or a tamarind vinaigrette, green papaya slaw or pickled vegetables; and condiments such as toasted rice, crushed peanuts and crispy garlic. The tasty traditional Thai food was flowing from every corner of the building.
The signature drinks for the event included Bruce Cost ginger ales and Young coconut water which were memorable. The alcoholic beverage list included Beer Lao, Singa, Chnag, Dogdish Head 60-minute IPA. Although, alcoholic beverages will not be on the menu for the Georgetown location; consumer can purchase alcohol at the Dupoint Circle Shophouse location in Washington D.C.
The coolest part of it all was guests in attendance received the traditional interactive service format that allows customers to pick and choose exactly what they want to eat which is modeled after Chipotle. Talk about tasty traditional Thai fast food at ShopHouse whereas, the pork and chicken meatballs are a must try and the curry sauces are exotic & spicy. Oh, did I mention all guests in attendance were given coupons to return for future free meal bowls.
"Anyone who has traveled throughout Southeast Asia can tell you that food there is served very fast, but is also full of flavor, nutritious, and affordable," said Tim Wildin, director of concept development at Chipotle.
