In Carytown, the Traditional Asian Health Center will be celebrating the grand opening of its Fan-area wellness center on Saturday, December 3rd, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This event is being organized by John Kang who is an acupuncturist, herbalist, and martial arts instructor. The day will include Free Community-Style Acupuncture with John Kang.
There will be Martial Arts demonstration and lessons:
* Wing Chun Kung Fu Demonstration and Lesson by East-West Wing Chun
* Traditional Okinawan Karate Demo by Nathan Wender of Energy Works
* Pressure Point Demo by Energy Works
*Taiji Demo by Mike Shea of Richmond Tai Chi
* Filipino Stick Fighting Demo by Jemar Carcellar of International Balintawak
*Mixed Martial Arts & Fight Conditioning by Lindsey Check
John Kang heals with acupuncture in his Carytown location and his Richmond Acupuncture & Wellness Center in the West End. In Carytown he practices Community-Style Acupuncture which he describes as a “common throughout Asia and specifically Taiwan. Community-Style Acupuncture is growing in popularity in the United States as a means of offering acupuncture treatment in an inexpensive manner.” Rather than lying on a massage table in private rooms the patient sits in a chair. This service is specifically good for students and seniors.
He also has a martial arts studio in his Carytown location.
John Kang is from a family of Chinese doctors. After graduating from Berkley University in California, he was an apprentice in acupuncture in 1995; then earned a Masters of Oriental Medicine from Meiji College. He has done post-graduate studies in Japan and China.
John treats a wide range of health issues, and specializes in treating infertility, mental-emotional disorders and pediatrics.
