Trader Joe’s does a wonderful job of labeling foods with icons that make it easy for with food allergies (or intolerances) to shop there. One of their icons is for labeling items in which there were “no gluten ingredients used.”
A recent new find was the gourmet chicken meatballs made of sun-dried tomatoes, basil and provolone. Although these meatballs did not display the classic “no gluten ingredients used” icon- they did say “Gluten Free” right on them. In addition to being gluten free, these all natural, fully cooked, ready to serve mini-chicken-meatballs have no antibiotics, no preservatives and no fillers.
Cooking them is extremely easy, just heat in conventional or microwave oven and you’re good to go! I added some to my favorite gluten free Classico pasta sauce (all Classico red and white sauces are gluten free- visit their website for $1 off coupon) and served them over a bowl of Le Veneziane corn pasta and had a delicious gluten-free meal in very little prep time!
With many Trader Joe’s locations on Long Island (including Merrick, Oceanside, Commack, Hewlett, Smithtown, and Plainview ) you have great options when shopping for gluten free foods! Click here for Trader Joe’s “No Gluten Ingredients Used” Listing.
