Trader Joe's: Car crashes into Long Island store and injures 15 people

An automobile crashed into a Trader Joe’s grocery store in Oceanside, Long Island in New York on Friday afternoon, according to a Fox News report.

Nassau County Police say the accident occurred at approximately 1:00 p.m. at 3418 Long Beach Road. Witnesses say that an elderly woman was driving a sedan when it crashed into other cars in the parking lot, jumped up over the curb, and crashed through the glass of the Trader Joe’s store. The woman's name has not been released.

Of the 15 persons injured, one was reportedly pinned under the white Buick which the woman was driving. Twelve people were taken to area hospitals – of which two were reported to be in serious condition - while 3 of the injured refused any medical attention following the accident.

Trader Joe’s is a privately held chain of specialty grocery stores with headquarters in Monrovia, California in the Los Angeles area. It has been in operation since 1979.
