Trade in your kid's old bike, get coupon savings off new one at Toys 'R' Us

Though these gray skies in St. Louis are determined to hang around it seems, Sunday, March 20 actually is the first day of spring. Even if not immediate, this notation on the calendar holds the promise of brighter days ahead.

With those brighter days comes the return to playing outdoors. And what better way to celebrate the sunshine than to dust off the bikes and set the kids free with the wind in their hair and smiles on their faces. That is, unless a growth spurt has all of a sudden made your "little one" look like he or she is trying to ride a bicycle intended for Barbies or action figures.

Whether your kid has outgrown the bike, or the bike is just looking a bit worse for wear, Toys R Us has just the event you need. Starting March 20, with Toys "R" Us' Great Bike Trade-In, you can bring your old bike into any St. Louis Toys "R" Us location and nab some savings off a shiny, new set of wheels for your kid. Your savings will depend on the price range of the new bike you purchase.

A bike priced at $99.98 or less will net you a savings of $20. Bikes prices between $99.99 and $149.98 will get a $30 coupon and bikes priced $149.99 and above will bring your total cost down by $50. You can also bring in your used bike helmets to save 25% off a new one.

The event runs through March 26. There is no limit to the number of old bikes and helmets you can bring in, so it's a great time to give the whole family a bike make over. With savings like these, you may even have enough left over to buy some baseball cards for the spokes and streamers for the handlebars.
