Tracy Neal qualifies for Miss Arkansas Pageant

Tracy Neal was crowned Miss Heart of the Ozarks 2013 on Feb. 17, according to Miss Arkansas Sloane Roberts.

The crowning qualifies Neal as a contestant for Miss Arkansas. The winner of the Miss Arkansas Pageant will represent her state at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City.

"She will be promoting her platform - Pink Courage: Fighting for a Cure and the Children’s Miracle Network," according to local pageant officials.

"Neal, 23, is a graduate student studying Community Health Promotions at the University of Arkansas. As Miss Heart of the Ozarks, she will receive over $9,000 in scholarships and over $20,000.00 in awards and prizes. She competed against 10 other young women from Northwest Arkansas for the title. She will compete for the title of Miss Arkansas this summer in Hot Springs."

Neal reigned last year as Miss University of Arkansas.

"Since partnering with the Komen Foundation," she wrote, "I have seen firsthand the impact that breast cancer can have on the individual who is suffering from the disease and the friends and family of the patient. My goal is to provide specific education to men and women on how to conduct a proper monthly self-examination and to provide resources to families to get the mammograms that are needed."
