Tracy Morgan is on the mend: Hospital upgrades star to fair condition

Tracy Morgan survived one of the most graphic and media hyped auto accidents in recent history. Originally the comedian was listed in critical condition and some worried that he might not survive. It looks like things are getting better for Morgan though as he continues to heal. According to a Tuesday report by CNN, Tracy Morgan's rep has confirmed the comedian has been upgraded from critical to fair condition.

It's been just ten days since an accident on the New Jersey Turnpike almost killed Tracy Morgan. The devastating accident did end the life of a fellow comedian and Morgan's writer James McNair. The six-car pileup was allegedly caused by Wal-Mart employee Kevin Roper. The truck driver is said to have caused the horrific accident when his Wal-Mart truck swerved to avoid traffic slowing down in front of him. That set off the chain of events leading to the death of McNair and the hospitalization of Tracy Morgan.

Two other comedians, Ardie Fuqua and Harris Stanton, were also injured in the accident. Tracy Morgan's assistant Jeff Millea was also involved and injured. He received an upgrade to fair condition recently also.

Tracy Morgan has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He broke multiple ribs, his nose, leg and femur in the crash. He is on the mend though and his rep said that Morgan is starting to show signs of his old personality. He is alert and awake and although in pain, he is starting to act much more like himself.

Since the accident, the driver who allegedly caused it all has turned himself into the police. Kevin Roper plead not guilty to charges against him although many have reported that Roper was operating on very little sleep when the accident occurred. This further fuels the debate about truck drivers being overworked and driving while they are much too tired.
