Former Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock actor and movie star Tracy Morgan was critically injured in a six vehicle accident early Saturday morning in New Jersey. Seven people were hospitalized and one person was killed in the accident according to authorities.
Morgan was said to be riding in a limo bus when a tractor-trailer allegedly rear-ended the vehicle which then cause the limo to overturn on the New Jersey Turnpike.
Two tractor-trailers, an SUV, the limo bus and two other vehicles were involved in the crash which police say they do not believe alcohol was a factor though the accident and the circumstances surrounding what happened are still under investigation. Though no charges have been filed as of yet that could change by the end of the day say police.
The 45 year old Morgan is listed in critical condition and is in intensive care and his condition is not expected to change according to his publicist, Lewis Kay. Kay went on to say that Morgan was surrounded by his family and is receiving excellent care. The exact extent of his injuries are not clear at the moment and details are being carefully released to media.
Morgan is diabetic and had a kidney transplant in 2010 and it is unknown if either or both of those conditions played a role in his injuries or not.
The limo bus in which Morgan was a passenger was the only vehicle that rolled in the accident and a passenger in the limo, James McNair of Peekskill, NY was the only listed fatality. Others injured in the crash were being treated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where three were in critical condition and one listed in fair condition.
Morgan has been touring doing a stand-up comedy show and many fans and friends were reaching out to him via Twitter once news of the accident became public. Mike Epps Tweeted "Say a prayer for my man @RealTracyMorgan. Who was in a bad car accident." Josh Groban said "Oh no...wishing @RealTracyMorgan full recovery and everyone else involved in the crash."
Photos of the limo bus Morgan was riding in show extensive damage from the impact as well as caused by the rollover and Morgan is said to be currently "fighting for his life" with the next 24-48 hours being deemed as the most critical for his being able to recover.
