From the worlds of sports, music and television, celebrities are lining up to take part in the third annual Christmas 4 Kids Celebrity Golf Tournament on Tuesday, April 29, at Pine Creek Golf Course, 1835 Logue Road, in Mt. Juliet, Tenn.
Presented by Prevost, a leading manufacturer of premium motor coaches, proceeds from the tournament will benefit Christmas 4 Kids, a charitable organization that has helped to bring Christmas joy to thousands of Middle Tennessee children.
This year, among those slated to participate include Tracy Lawrence, Jan Howard, Doyle Lawson, Joe Diffie, David Ball, NASCAR Driver TJ Bell, Eric Heatherly, Lisa Matassa, Brother Trouble, Matt Gary, Carolyn Corlew, Wood Newton, Jackson Delaney, Lucas Hoge, Del Gray, George Ducas, Guy Gilchrist, Mitch Goudy, Sherry Lynn, Erin Como, Barrack Shapiro, Jennifer Waddell, Bob Sellers, Kelly Sutton and WSM and Grand Ole Opry announcer Mike Terry, with award-winning bluegrass duo The Roys and Stacy McCloud of GAC’s “Headline Country” serving as co-hosts.
"This is my second year participating in the Christmas 4 Kids Golf Event," songstress Matassa exclusively told Examiner on April 28. "Its such a wonderful organization and I really enjoy helping out any way I can. All of the C4K events are so much fun, and if this years golf event is anything like last year, they can count me in from here on out!"
Singer-songwriter Jesse Keith Whitley, son of country stars Lorrie Morgan and the late Keith Whitley, also is set to take part in Tuesday's tournament.
"I've always loved the work that the folks do at Christmas 4 Kids, but I appreciate it even more now that I'm a daddy," Whitely shared with Examiner. "It's all for a great cause, but I'm still pretty competitive. I've been practicing so that I don't totally embarrass myself!"
According to organizers, the tournament is a three-player scramble with a celebrity as the fourth player. The cost is $125 per person (includes lunch, dinner and drinks). Plus, there will be multiple prizes in multiple flights and more than $65,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs. For registration information, visit www.christmas4kids.org.
The itinerary for the event is 10 a.m. registration, 11 a.m. lunch and a shotgun start at noon. Dinner will follow tournament play.
About Christmas 4 Kids
For more than 20 years, Christmas 4 Kids has provided Middle Tennessee-area children with the chance to experience the joys of Christmas. Last year, Christmas 4 Kids was able to provide 400-plus children a ride on a celebrity tour bus, a party with Santa and Mrs. Claus, money to spend on gifts for themselves and others at a local Wal-Mart and a new winter coat.
Proceeds from this year’s Celebrity Golf Tournament and other events throughout the year, including the annual Charlie Daniels concert and tour-bus show, will go to make this a reality again in December 2014, confirm organizers.
