Tracie Kern goes to trial on charges of murder, manslaughter, and assault

Tracie Kern, 42, of Cleveland, was indicted on charges of murder, voluntary manslaughter, and felonious assault.

Prosecutors say on February 21, 2010, Tracie Kern arrived home at 2:30 am. Tracie Kern and her fiancé, Ivan Lapsley, 50, got into an argument.

Tracie Kern grabbed a steak knife from the kitchen and stabbed her fiancé in the chest. Tracie Kern's 14-year-old son called EMS. EMS transported the victim to Metro Hospital were he was pronounced dead at approximately 4:00 am.

Tracie Kern’s trial is scheduled for 9:00 am in front Judge Brendan Sheehan.
