Toyota is recalling 437,000 Prius models worldwide due to potential brake problems.

A software issue is the root of the problem. Faulty software can cause a brief delay in the activation of the brakes in cold weather or on bumpy roads.

Along with the Prius, Lexus HS 250h models are affected. Owners will be sent letters in the mail, notifying them of the recall. The fix should take about 40 minutes.

This brings the total number of Toyota vehicles affected by various recalls to 8.5 million.
