Six first-time winners are among the 28 recipients of grants from the Tournament of Roses Foundation for 2014, awarded at a reception on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Tournament House. Pres. Nancy Neal Davis distributed checks totaling $100,000 to 28 civic, educational and cultural non-profit organizations in the San Gabriel Valley on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. The Foundation announced the awardees in a press release issued Thursday.
The non-profit Tournament of Roses Foundation was established in 1983 as a diverse board tasked with managing and distributing charitable contributions on behalf of the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Association. It receives donations and gifts from the Association, its supporters and the general public for distribution to Pasadena-area charities in the categories of sports and recreation, visual and performing arts, volunteer motivation, leadership development. Grants range from $2,000 to $6,700.
The six new organizations receiving grants are Alhambra Educational Foundation, Don Benito PTA, Friends Western School, Impact Basketball, Inc., MUSE/IQUE and The Hillside School and Learning Center.
The remaining recipients of 2014 grants are A Noise Within, Boys & Girls Club of Pasadena, College Access Plan, Day One, Door of Hope, Light Bringer Project, Lineage Dance Company, Los Angeles Children’s Chorus, Los Angeles Wilderness Training, Mentoring and Partnership for Youth Development, Pasadena City College Foundation, Pasadena Junior Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Pasadena Museum of History, Pasadena Senior Center, Pasadena Summer Youth Chamber Orchestra, Pasadena YMCA, Pasadena Youth Center, Side Street Projects, Sierra Madre Playhouse, Special Olympics San Gabriel Valley, YMCA San Gabriel Valley and YMCA Pasadena-Foothill Valley.
