A free, grassroots advocacy event, Tourism Day in Annapolis will be held on Friday, Jan. 31, 2014. Tourism industry professionals statewide will be on-hand to share the positive impact of tourism on Maryland’s economy with legislators, sharing stories about their businesses.
Industry professionals know that it is important to showcase the positive impact that tourism has on the state's economy. At a recent hearing before a key State Senate subcommittee, the Maryland Hotel and Lodging Association (MH&LA) presented testimony in support of full funding of all elements of the Governor’s proposed FY15 budget that promote travel and tourism and opposing recommendations or efforts to reduce funding for the Maryland Tourism Development Board.
Tourism supports jobs for more than 131,000 Marylanders and generates more than $2 billion in state and local taxes (per Tourism Economics).
