Grueling and muddy, Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile team or individual challenge that is scattered with obstacles, such as running through electrified cables, leaping over pits of flame, crawling under barbed wire and diving into an arctic bath. When I was asked to join a team, little did I know the experience would be more than just getting fit and a new experience.
Testing and pushing past your limits, especially in social situations may cause you to change in unexpected ways. You may not know what to expect after jumping into an artic bath, getting electro-shocked, being suspended over a river, crawling/wading through mud, and sprinting or is it slipping up a half pipe. You’ll still be the same person, maybe a little more fit and with a new obsession, but also with a few extra attractive qualities.
- Get Ripped
Created by British Special Forces and benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project, the Tough Mudder challenge truly requires you to train hard core. If you take it seriously, you will get ripped and with it some well-earned notice of your new physic.
The Tough Mudder pledge focuses on team work, camaraderie, perseverance and strength. Training and preparing creates a close- knit social circle and over 80% of participants join as part of a team. One of the best ways to meet someone new is through your current social circle. Have everyone that signs-up bring a friend and you’ll soon have a few more close relationships.
- Becoming a Mudder
Being part of a unique, physically and mentally exhilarating experience with over 460,000 people from 35 events all over the United States not only offers an instant connection with an attractive group , but it also offers a great opportunity for interesting stories and networking.
- Story telling
Storytelling is the most powerful device on earth in regard to human influence. In the end, at least if you experience a Tough Mudder, I guarantee you’ll be the only built, confident guy or girl at any party or bar who can say, “once upon a time I was jumping over a fire pit…and doesn’t that make you hot?”
