Magnolia at the Modern is a program of the Modern Art Museum. Each weekend critically acclaimed films are screened in the Modern auditorium. Many times these film screenings include discussions by experts on the subject. Usually these film screenings only take place for one weekend. Due to popular demand the current film was on last weekend and will continue through tomorrow. Several of the shows have been sold out. Advance ticket purchase is available two hours prior to showtime.

Follow a boy’s journey from childhood to adult along with his family. This film seamlessly captures short snippets of time as milestones or pivotal events are reached to shape story. This is a very interesting film that captivates the audience not only through the story being told but more as to how this movie was made.

Miyazaki at the Modern: Masterpieces of Animation series a partnership with the Lone Star Film Society continues. In honor of this series, today is Dress up Manga day. There will be a special “runway” and a manga backdrop for you to take your anime “selfie”. Make sure to stop by the Modern Shop to check out the Totoro and other anime merchandise available for purchase.
