When it comes to games, everything has a price, even blood and gore. Yes, literally.
Right on time for Halloween, Sega has released its Blood and Gore DLC pack for Total War: Rome II, the company announced today. As the title suggests, this new downloadable content is exactly that: Bloody gore.
Priced at just $2.99, BG adds the gruesome carnage previously missing from Total War: Rome II’s otherwise historical reimagining. This means, blood splattering, decapitation, dismemberment, including the appropriate audio, now accompanies every ignited battle.
“Employing a more refined particle system than Shogun 2, Blood & Gore for ROME II looks and feels grittier and more brutal,” read the press release. Some may question why cosmetic effects like blood and such weren’t implemented from the very beginning, however, this may be due to the game’s scale and the work involved with reproducing minute details during the game’s ambitious real-time combat.
Either way, $2.99 isn’t asking much, and, if blood and gore suits your fancy, Total War: Rome II will, if anything, improve nicely with the aforementioned effects, however horrific they may be.
