Pre-orders for the special edition of “Total War: Rome II” have completely sold out. The game is set for release on September 3, 2013. The special edition version of the game was available for $154.99 and came with some great bonus material.
The Physical Collector’s Edition of the game came with more than just a physical copy of the game. An epic unboxing under the duress of trained attack dogs was recently done by the guys over at Rally Point. Only 22,000 individually numbered copies were made and have all been sold.
Bound in a leather-effect presentation box, complete with gold logo and magnetic closure, the special edition box includes a bunch of Roman themed games and special materials. The game itself comes in a debossed Steelbook case,m laser etched with a unique collector’s number in Roman numerals. Included in the box is a Tabula set (the Roman forerunner to backgammon), Tesserae dice, Total War Cards:Punic Wars, a canvas campaign map and a complete fully functional Onager (a Roman catapult).
While the Physical Collector’s edition has been sold out gamers can still pre-order the Standard Edition Digital Download. Download links and an activation code will be emailed to those that pre-order the game on 09/03/2013 at 00:00 EDT. Those pre-ordering the Standard Edition will also get “The Greek States Culture Pack” DLC. The DLC pack adds a new culture and three new factions to the game.
