3D for you and me -
Imagine seeing images of the San Francisco skyline in 3D on a laptop. Now take this a step further and imagine doing this without wearing clunky 3D glasses. This is just what Toshiba promises in its announcement of its Qosmio F750 3D laptop.
What you see is what you get
Glasses free 3D technology isn’t new and has been incorporated in Nintendo’s 3DS handheld game machine. The physics behind G3D (glassless 3D) is explained by Toshiba UK:
“To create a 3D effect without 3D glasses, the left eye needs to see a slightly different perspective to the right eye...
“...two images of slightly differing perspectives [produced] individually to the left and right eye...creates the 3D effect.”
The Qosmio F750 3D screens images in 2D and 3D simultaneously. A user can surf the Internet in 2D while viewing a 3D movie in another window.
A few downsides
The 3D experience on Tohsiba’s Qosmio F750 3D is limited to only one viewer at a time. Some who have experience G3D, such as on Nintendo’s 3DS game console, have reported issues of eye fatigue, vertigo, and other vision associated aftereffects.
