The City of Torrance honors the armed forces at the 55 Annual Armed Forces Day Celebration and Parade Friday, May 16 through Sunday, May 18.

The parade is Torrance’s longest standing tradition and both residents and visitors are encouraged to gather along the parade route and cheer for our sons, daughters, parents, friends, husbands and wives who have been called to duty in defense of our country.

The parade takes place on Saturday, May 17 and gets underway at 1:30 p.m. The route runs along Torrance Boulevard starting at Crenshaw Boulevard and ending at City Hall.

Each year, the City honors a different military branch – this year highlights the United States Navy. Grand Marshal Rear Admiral Patrick Lorge, Commander, Navy Region Southwest, will lead the parade.

Military exhibits, vehicles and support equipment will be on display at the north end of the Del Amo Fashion Center at the lower parking lot on the west side of the parking structure on Friday, May 16 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 17 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sunday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

A free concert by the Navy Band Southwest will perform at the James Armstrong Theatre on Friday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets will be available at the Box Office on Wednesday, May 14, 2013 beginning at 10 a.m. There is a limit of four tickets per adult.
