Kyle Lowry and the Toronto Raptors are the perfect fit for each other. That’s why the two parties reached an agreement on Wednesday night. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports, the deal is worth 4-years $48 million. The agreement also comes with an opt out clause after three years of service.

Prior to the start of the free agency period, Lowry was rumored to land in many spots other than Toronto. He had interest from teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers and Houston Rockets, but plenty of people thought it was a foregone conclusion that Miami would make a huge run at the Eastern conference’s best point guard.

Lowry led the Raptors to the playoffs for the first time since 2008. His role as the leader of Toronto was unquestioned. However, it wasn’t just the leadership that played a factor in the Raptors’ resurgence. Lowry had his best season in his career.

Kyle Lowry played in 79 games this season. He averaged 17.9 points per game, while dishing out a career high 7.4 assists this season. After eight seasons in the league, Lowry is finally coming to his own, and he has a chance to blossom with one team.

During his career, Lowry hasn’t had more than four seasons with the same team. He spent his first two seasons with Memphis before getting traded to Houston in 2009. By 2012 he was off to Toronto. Now Kyle Lowry can set his roots down for a fantastic career.

If he decided to leave, go back to Houston, or head towards Miami, there’s no doubt that Lowry would have to start over with a new role. He’s great with the ball in his hands, and the way Miami runs their offense wouldn’t be conducive to his skill set. It would be the same way with James Harden in Houston. He’s too talented to sit around the three point line and become a spot up shooter.

With the move, Toronto is certainly in the running to be a top three team in 2015.
