People magazine released their March 11 issue last week with reports that Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott had reached a breaking point and filing for divorce. By March 4, Spelling wrote an open letter to Star magazine according to ABC News. The letter, posted on Spellings website’s ediTORIal section was titled, “An Open Letter to Star Magazine.”
The original story was leaked before the publication hit newsstands and included personal information about the marriage. Sticking a fork in the over-done rumors that Tori and Dean were on the verge of divorce. At the end of February the pair were at the mall with their children. Dean was extremely impatient with Tori and the children. Tori left the store embarrassed and apologizing.
The story goes on to report that McDermott talks about Spelling behind her back; saying some very nasty things. Sources say that Tori is obsessed with his fidelity and is convinced he’s been cheating with two women for years. The source also states Dean stays for the money, but is finally ready to file for divorce. Tori doesn’t want him to go since they’ve built their empire around being a family.
Not so fast. On Tori’s website, she makes a jab about how “some publications are more reputable than others” making it obvious she’s not talking about Star magazine. She says she usually just ignores the headlines but this time she’s “not answering as a celebrity but as a mom.” Tori and the children were in a local supermarket and right away noticed the magazine couple with the words “divorce.” Her son Liam, 6, read the cover and instantly became confused and terrified.
After 24 years of being in the public eye Spelling is used to the jabs, but at that moment she was unable to really get her children to understand. She says the whole drive home she kept telling them “That magazine doesn’t know us. Daddy and I are very happy and in love.” While Tori can handle it, her children cannot.
Of course Star seems to think this “happy and in love” couple are really just putting on a façade.
