Come June 7th, the Central Park SummerStage will be taken by the versatile beast that is Toquinho, one of Brazil's most talented artists. The virtuoso will be performing in homage to his long time friend and music partner, the poet Vinícius de Moraes, whose life and work is celebrated at the 12th Brazilian Film Festival of New York, held from June 1st to the 7th.

Antônio Pecci Filho, mostly known by his nickname Toquinho, started playing the guitar at a young age and soon gained attention due to his indisputable talent. After being caught in Vinícius de Moraes radar due to his collaboration with another Brazilian great, Jorge Ben, the two went on to form a fruitful friendship that lasted until the poet's death, in 1980. Toquinho then started a solo career to much critical acclaim and comercial success.

To fulfill a more diverse demand usually inherent to New York concert goers, DJ Gaspar Muniz will be setting the mood at the SummerStage. Born in the city to very artistic parents - multi-media icon Maria Mattos and photographer Vik Muniz -, Gaspar were exposed to instances of creativity and artistic freedom from an early age. Following a time living in Rio, Muniz moved back to NY to pursue some studying in advertisement and keep improving his craft as a digital musician.
