Topgolf has begun construction on its newest high-tech golf entertainment venue. On the northwest corner of I-88 and Route 59, the 65,000 square foot venue is expected to open in Spring 2015 and boast 102 hitting bays and three floors.
The first Chicagoland location opened in 2007 in Wood Dale, and provides elite and novice golfers alike can enjoy a night of food, drinks, and golf with friends and family. All skill levels are invited to play, and players hit balls with microchips that are capable of tracking the accuracy and distance of each shot.
Each player will view different hitting ranges across the 6.5 acre outfield worth different points, and players earn points based on how close their ball lands. A variety of games are available which are best described as "bowling meets darts meets golf," as stated by a spokesperson.
Each bay will be climate controlled, and the lower bar as well as restaurant area will provide an expanded food and drink menus. High-definition TVs will be at each bay, and visitors who download the Topgolf app on their smartphones can use the app to change channels.
The Naperville location will also have more space in order to host corporate events. The building is being modeled after Topgolf Houston North -- one of the company's 13 locations across the country.
Topgolf was started by the Jolliffee brothers who were looking for ways to make the golf range more exciting while also improving their skills. They envisioned a new golf experience that combines competition with entertainment. To fuel a little friendly rivalry, the high-tech balls instantly score each shot's accuracy and distance.
Topgolf has since evolved to be a top entertainment facility, complete with event spaces and a top quality food and drink menu.
As you’d expect, the story of Topgolf began on a driving range, where two brothers were practicing their swings. The year was 2000.
Topgolf is an authentic golf experience that combines competition with entertainment. It’s like drinks with your best buddies, the weekly poker night, a Sunday tee time, playing Wii with the kids and the best date you’ve ever had – all rolled into one. Let's Play!
