The Amstel light beer was flowing and the smell of the grill cooking up burgers filled the air as event goers gathered last month at the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal for the Battle of the Burger! There were 20 of Boston’s best burgers featured at the event with the chance to meet the chefs and taste their delicious juicy burger creations.
There was no shortage of burgers topped with bacon, veggies, a variety of cheese, and other innovative combinations. Guests had the chance to vote for just one, and wander around hopping from table to table, as music played on, at this waterfront venue, on a warm summer night. And for dessert, make your own sundaes! At the end of the night, the winner of the esteemed title of best burger of Boston went to The Blue Ox!
The Sin Burger by Matt O’Neil included a USDA prime beef burger, applewood smoked bacon, truffle aioli, tomato, and lettuce, on a brioche bun. Taking the second and third place spots were Ceia Kitchen + Bar with their kobe burger featuring Manchego, serrano, heirloom tomato, paprika aioli and fresh made Farmer’s Reserve ketchup as well as area favorite Joe’s American Bar & Grill with the All American BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger by David Forbes with fresh ground chuck, BBQ basted crispy pork belly, two year aged Vermont cheddar and maple Cajun bacon jam, served on a griddled poppy bun served with house cured pickles!
