Top Ten Mardi Gras Headache Cures

Mardi Gras season is officially here! As you all well know, with the Mardi Gras season, comes the Mardi Gras parties and parades. And with the parties and parades, come the inevitable hangovers.

Even the geekiest among us is susceptible to the hangover, but luckily the geek gods have smiled down up this Mardi Gras season, and given us this handy dandy Top Ten List of hangover headache cures.

10. Water - a lot of it. Many headaches are caused by dehydration, so refueling with water gives your body the chance it needs to take on the headaches.

9. Aromatherapy. Smells have an immense impact on the body. A relaxing scent can calm the body down cause the muscles to lose their tension.

8. Hot Shower. When your neck and shoulder muscles are tense, your headache will linger, if not get worse. Heat from a hot shower or heating pad helps relax the muscles.

7. Crackers and Honey. A quick, natural snack which helps flush the body of any remaining alcohol .

6. Take Your Hat Off! Any extra pressure on your head can increase a headache or make one linger. This includes, hats, headbands, sunglasses, pony tails, and any other silly looking headgear you bought at a parade.

5. Lemons. Another quick, natural cure, squeeze some fresh lemons into some water or iced tea to help cure the headache fast.

4. Relax. Find some relaxation techniques that work best for you, and utilize them. This could be anything from Yoga, to exercising.

3. Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwich. It sounds counterintuitive, especially if you’re feeling a bit queasy, but if your headache is from a hangover this sandwich is idea. The grease and bread sop up the remaining alcohol, and the egg helps rehydrate.

2. Iced Coffee. Both ice and coffee are vasoconstrictors, (as are most all caffeinated drinks) which work to shrink throbbing and dilated blood vessels. This option helps to shrink the headache away, while also being the most delicious.

1. Aspirin. Sounds simple, right? Most any extra strength aspirin contains what the body needs to help fight off a headache (And if you read the boxes, many have caffeine).

So, this Mardi Gras season, if you party a little too hard and get a headache, keep this handy dandy list close by. You never know how your head will react.
