Top Stylish Celebs of 2012 (Photos)

Beyonce

There is no denying that Beyonce is amazing. In 2012, she broke out of her shell and displayed her personal style. It was so easy to appreciate and adore her various styles because most of her pieces were simply from her closet. She was dressed effortlessly at every event she attended. Beyonce gave birth to her first child, Blue Ivy, and while she was new to motherhood she still managed to stay trendy. As she introduced herself to the social media world, we all got a glimpse into her world as a mother, wife, daughter, sister and fashionista. 2012 was the year of the high bun and if anyone perfected it, it was Beyonce. No matter where she was, front of a Brooklyn Nets game or scurrying down the street with Blue Ivy, Beyonce kept it stylish. In October of 2012, Beyonce snagged a $50 million deal with Pepsi. Her advertisement was premiered in Times Square, which was only a preview for the halftime show showcasing her on February 16, 2013 during the SuperBowl. Beyonce is such a striking beauty, it’s hard to pick just one favorite look. However, my favorite was the black and purple, Givenchy gown she wore the MET Gala. The sheer and sexy dress looked stunning on her and the sleek ponytail made her look chic.

Solange

She is her own entity. People try to compare her to her sister but they are two completely different people. Solange’s style is so fresh yet unexpected. She creates her own trends and it always works out. 2012 was her year. Solange graced the cover of many magazines with her gorgeous face and effervescent style. Solange’s flair helped her to snag deals with Carol’s Daughter, Madewell and Rimmel. Also, I think her hairstyles made her looks jazzier because she wore her natural, curly hair. It was amazing to watch her come to the forefront of the fashion industry. Her video “Losing You” showcased her keen eye for fashion. This year it seemed that yellow was her signature color because whether it was from head to toe or a simple accented accessory, she stood out in the bright color. My favorite look was the canary yellow Rachel Roy gown she wore to the MET Gala. The dress complimented Solange perfectly. From the flawless peplum to her big curly hair, this look was striking.

Emma Stone

She is the “it” girl in almost every movie these days. Most people fell in love with her in her awesome role in The Help but she has also won many over with her keen fashion sense. Emma Stone is the quirky girl next door. Her style matches her personality: down to earth and chic. While she’s not a fashion guru, she is definitely trendy. She not only won numerous awards for her amazing acting in 2012 but she was on the cover of many magazines in the United States and the United Kingdom. She is the new face of Revlon and with every new accomplishment she never ceases to amaze me. What she wore to the Paris premiere of The New Spiderman has to be my favorite look. It was a magnificently crafted black gown from Gucci’s Autumn 2012 line and her blonde hair and red lip perfected the look.

Rihanna

This ever evolving artist is definitely an eye catching fashionista. Rihanna has come a long way from the 16 year old singing “Pon De Replay.” She has been through alot over the years and I think it has all contributed to her effortlessly amazing fashion sense. Rihanna manages to switch up her style with so much ease. She looks amazing whether she’s wearing sneakers or six inch heels. Her seventh album, “Unapologetic”, debuted in 2012 and she showcased a new side. Rihanna has been deemed a chameleon by critics and she holds true to that title. She was the poster child for beauty in 2012 with her pixie cut and impeccable makeup. You never know what you’re going to get with this bombshell but you can guarantee that it will be remarkable. Rihanna performed at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show and she shined bright with her lyrics and style as she sashayed down the runway. Her white, backless, body hugging Adam Selman dress that she wore to the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards was my favorite look. It was bold and daring, which is the epitome of Rihanna.

Kerry Washington

Who doesn’t love this talented actress and activist? When she wasn’t wearing her white hat in “Scandal”, she was devoting her time to the election. It did not matter what she was doing, she did it in style. Kerry Washington seemed to be fashionable in such a graceful way. Even in the hit television show, Scandal, she manages to command attention with every outfit. Kerry Washington’s infamous tailored jackets and blazers are one of the key reasons millions of people have an appointment with her every Thursday. A very essential reason critics love her is due to her impeccable way of being such a lady. During the Democratic National Convention, she gave a major speech in support for President Barack Obama. She wore a simple black dress but she looked so elegant. “I'm here not just as an actress but as a woman, an African-American, a granddaughter of Ellis Island immigrants, a person who could not have afforded college without the help of student loans and as one of millions of volunteers working to re-elect President Obama!,” Kerry Washington exclaimed during the DNC. 2012 was definitely a wonderful year for her with the success of “Scandal”, her involvement in the election and the premiere of her film Django Unchained. Of all of her exquisite looks, my favorite was the blush, sequin Vivienne Westwood gown she wore to the 2012 Emmy Awards; it was simply amazing.

Some of my other favorites were Miley Cyrus and Iggy Azalea. Miley Cyrus is not Hannah Montana anymore. She’s blossomed into a beautiful, edgy woman. Her new rocker-esque, pixie cut helped her look more fashionable in 2012. My favorite look of Miley Cyrus was the Omo by Norma Kamali cutout turtleneck dress that she paired with Jean-Michel Cazabat Emma pumps. She was one of the best dressed celebrities at the VH1 Divas show. Iggy Azalea is a newcomer to the hip hop world. She’s a feisty and fun rapper with tons of style. She looks great in a couture dress or a cheerleading skirt. Iggy Azalea also has a contract with Wilhemina Modeling and she walked in New York Fashion Week in the fall of 2012. She wore an Emilio Pucci Black Sheer Mesh Trim Gown to the VH1 Divas show and she looked like old Hollywood glamour, which would have to be my favorite look.

With all of the trends and style from 2012, I'm excited about 2013!
