While the top offensive line prospect in the nation, Seantrel Henderson, verbally committed to the USC Trojans on Wednesday afternoon, he has decided to hold off on signing his Letter of Intent until after the university goes before the NCAA infractions committee on February 19th of this year.
His decision to wait on signing was relayed to the New York Times by Henderson's father, Sean.
The addition of Henderson to Lane Kiffin's 2010 recruiting class was considered a major coup as USC beat out the likes of Ohio State, Florida, Notre Dame and UCLA for the talented lineman.
For now, however, the Trojans will have to wait until after the NCAA and Pacific 10 Conference complete its investigation of former USC tailback Reggie Bush, who is accused of receiving improper benefits while at Southern California.
“A number of our guys' papers have come in and we have to go through a process through the University that takes time, so as you see guys that signed late in the day aren't on here, the guys that have signed early have gone through that process,” Kiffin replied when asked at yesterday's press conference why the left tackle, Henderson, did not appear on the list of signees.
Kiffin would later say that it would shock him should one of his recruits not actually sign a Letter of Intent.
Unfortunately for Kiffin and the Trojans that scenario has become a reality and until the NCAA infractions committee finishes its investigation, Henderson will continue to wait and see on USC.
