It is the age old question that female magazines have examined, reexamined, and contemplated, why it seems men are reluctant to commit to one relationship. The unanimous answer permeating through many girls night out gatherings and beauty shop talk is that men are simply afraid to commit, while some fit this description, the majority traffic within the top reasons men are reluctant to commit.
The number one reason men are reluctant to commit: there are a multitude of women to choose from. Much like the stock market, when an item floods the market that item is not as valuable compared to a scarce item on the market that people clamor to obtain because the low supply drives a higher demand. Women are not stock market items, but the analogy is fitting. Visit any night club or social spot and witness how the multitude of beautiful women grace the place with their presence as their greatly outnumbered male suitors take in this scenery with uninhibited attraction. Why would a man rush into commitment when he can leisurely pursue the woman of his choosing?
Another reason men are reluctant to commit: the pressure tactics used by some women. Let’s face it, no one enjoys feeling forced into any situation and an overly aggressive desire for him to commit may send out one of two messages; desperate and needy or control freak! Consequently, this often results in male stonewalling and a total disregard for the subject of commitment. Remember the countless jokes and anti-marriage messages society sends to men. For instance, the old ball and chain, getting permission from the wife to hang out with friends and the infamous talk of her sexual appetite vanishing once he puts a ring on her finger. Obviously there can be some truth in every stereotype, but if these particular stereotypes rein in a man's frontal lobe, pressuring him to commit is not the best option.
The last reason a man is reluctant to commit: she has not won his heart. Television shows, radio shows, magazine articles, and relationship gurus often attempt to detail how this process occurs, but the truth is no one knows how it occurs. Attraction and passion cannot be explained, it is simply felt. The vibe a man feels for a woman is intangible; it is a force of nature that causes a man to purchase and engagement ring he cannot afford. When his heart is conquered he eagerly informs his mother about this woman he adores and he awaits her stamp of approval. He is concerned for his woman’s safety at all times and when his heart is truly hers he will move heaven and earth to ensure her happiness.
