Sony released a report on March 7 outlining the top Playstation Network downloads for the month of February. While brand staples young and old like "Journey" and "Final Fantasy" ranked first in their respective categories, there were some surprise additions to the list as well. The original "Mass Effect" snuck into the top ten PS3 and PSN game downloads for the month, perhaps in anticipation of the recently released DLC "Mass Effect 3: Citadel." "Final Fantasy" titles all but swept the PS1 classics section and the PSP games section, taking up all five slots in the former, and the top four in the latter, the fifth position going to October 2012's "NBA 2K13 PSP," showing that despite lackluster recent showings, the series' classics are just as popular now as they ever were.
The trifecta of "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" DLC, long delayed and finally released for Playstation players, found positions in the top five PS3 DLC slots, however could not make the top three, giving away positions one and three to "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" titles. This may have something to do with the fact that there were so many problems releasing the titles that fans do not have the verve that they once had for "TES V," and perhaps, even with a discounted price the titles were simply too little, too late. There is a lot to do in "Skyrim," but even with new content, perhaps the world is simply getting a little cold.
