Top parties in Indy to ring in the New Year

Like real estate, ringing in the New Year in Indianapolis is all about location, location, location! Whether you prefer to celebrate downtown or any other side of the city, there’s something for everyone, including kids.

Here’s a sampling of some of the more popular New Year’s Eve Parties from years past, including one “inaugural” event that’s sure to satisfy the most discriminating tastes:

Hard Rock Cafe – Rockin' New Year's Eve

The Hard Rock Cafe will host their New Year's Eve party which will feature Brent James & the Contraband with special guests Cockeyed Clyde. The Brent James Band recently toured with Third Eye Blind. Enjoy good food, cocktails and great live music. Cost is $30 for general admisison; $95 for VIP.

Indiana State Museum – Family New Year's Eve Celebration

Want to take the whole family out to celebrate New Year’s Eve? Then do it at the Indiana State Museum, which will be hosting its annual, alcohol-free family celebration featuring lots of fun activities, including live music, games, crafts, magicians and clowns. Kids will especially love the balloon drop at 8 p.m. Tickets are $11 per person.

Jazz Kitchen – New Year's Eve Celebration

For great live music, The Jazz Kitchen's New Year's Eve celebration might be right up your alley. The party includes a dinner and dessert buffet, soft drinks, tax, gratuity, champagne toast, party favors and the cover charge. Musicians performing include Brenda Williams, Cynthia Layne, Bill Lancton, Rob Dixon, Frank Smith, Kenny Phelps and Reggie Bishop. Music will include a variety of jazz standards, R & GB and soul classics. Cost is $110 per person.

Mo's Irish Pub – New Year's Eve Celebration

If casual dining is what you prefer for ringing in the New Year, then don’t miss this celebration featuring a four-course meal, champagne toast at midnight and live music provided by Through Being Cool. The meal is $29.99 per person. General admission to the party is $10.

New Year's Eve Celebration at the Indianapolis Museum of Art

If you like to be the first to try something, then don’t miss this inaugural event called, "6 x13: New Year's Eve at the IMA". Featuring dinner and entertainment in the midst of this world-class museum, enjoy fine food and beverages, plus a champagne bar before dancing the night away to the Cultural Cannibals and The Vallures. All art galleries will be open for touring, and don’t miss the six featured works of art that will be acquired that evening and on display in the Davis Lab. Each work represents areas from the Museum’s collection of Asian, Contemporary, Design, Fashion, Photography, and Horticulture art. Then, at midnight, ring in the New Year while enjoying late night party foods. General reservations are $125 per guest.

Radio Radio – New Year's Eve

If you’re more of a hardcore punk music fan, then this is where you want to be to ring in the New Year. Featuring music by Toxic Reasons, Creepin' Charley & the Boneyard Orchestra, Ricky Rat Pack and Dan Glenzig, you can punk the night away while nibbling on a variety of hors d’oeuvres. Tickets are $10.

Seasons 52 – New Year's Eve Wine Dinner

If your New Year’s Resolution is to get healthy, then start it off right with a healthy seven-course tasting menu featuring wine pairings from the award-winning wine list at Seasons 52. Cost for the meal is $115 per guest, plus sales tax/gratuity.

Slippery Noodle Inn – New Year's Eve Celebration

If you’re more of a buffet kind of eater, then New Year's Eve at the Slipper Noodle Inn is just for you! Featuring a dinner package that includes everything from a reserved seat, hats and noisemakers, to a champagne toast and a buffet dinner, the cost for a table of four people is $250, which averages just over $60 per person and includes entertainment from Big James & the Chicago Playboys on the back stage. Not interested in dinner? No problem, purchase a general admission ticket instead at $30 per person and includes music from The Why Store on the front stage, as well as hats, noisemakers, champagne toast. While general admission tickets do not include dinner, a dinner menu is available.

Stella Artois – New Year's Eve Masquerade Ball

If dressing up in your favorite mask and costume is your thing, then this is the party for you. Featuring live music from My Yellow Rickshaw, Jamestown Revival, and The Michaels, you can also partake in a costume contest while enjoying the brand new Prohibition Lounge and lots of door prizes. Local Weatherman Paul Poteet will host. Tickets range in price from $55 - $135.
