It is a wonderful feeling to find the perfect dress. Until you realize that not only is your size unavailable, but no plus sizes are (and never were) available.
There are likely many full-figured shoppers who have watched the fashions on Rent the Runway come and go, as they diet and wait until their ample bodies are tiny enough to fit into one of the red-carpet-ready designer pieces. That dreamy longing ends now.
Rent the Runway has unveiled a line of plus-size dresses and gowns in sizes 14 to 22 from top designers, dubbed the RTR+ Collection. For those unfamiliar with how RTR works, you sign up for an account and rent dresses and accessories for a fraction of the retail price. One great feature of RTR is that you can order two sizes. This is like having a dressing room at your own home. Another plus is that the online views show you front, side and back angles so you can judge whether the look will be flattering or not before you order. After you're done with the dress, you simply return the items in the pre-paid envelope that is provided.
The premiere RTR+ selections retail prices run from $160 to $1150, but rentals will only set you back between $50 to $185. This means everything to social butterflies because you can spend the same or less money and always have a brand new look, since the selections are updated constantly.
