LOS ANGELES, CA -- On the movie set it's alleged that John Wayne once chased Dennis Hopper around with a loaded gun. That's how angry John Wayne became with Dennis Hopper, star of Easy Rider and other movies.
Dennis Hopper died today from prostate cancer complications at his home in Los Angeles. He was 74 and was surrounded by friends and family.
Hopper's manager told press back in October 2009 that the actor had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.

Dennis Hopper had success with "Easy Rider," but failed with his next film, "The Last Movie."
He also had parts in "Apocalypse Now" and "Hoosiers," and had two Academy Award nominations. This year in March, Hopper was honored with a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
The "Easy Rider" actor became renowned for not being easy to work with and he was known to throw tantrums and to abuse alcohol and drugs.
As mentioned above, it's been said that while he was filming "True Grit", Hopper so angered John Wayne that Wayne allegedly chased Hopper around with a loaded gun. All was forgiven later.
"Easy Rider" went on to make $40 million worldwide, a huge sum of money in its day.
Dennis Hopper was married five times and drama was part of his life to the end.
In January 2010, Hopper filed to end his 14-year marriage to Victoria Hopper, who stated in court filings that the actor was doing it to remove her from his inheritance, an allegation Hopper denied.
"Much of Hollywood," wrote critic-historian David Thomson, "found Hopper a pain in the neck."
Despite the drama (and isn't that what acting is all about?), Hopper had a way about him that made people forgive him.
The actor Dennis Hopper will be sorely missed by family and friends.
San Francisco resident, Jamie Long, says "R.I.P. Dennis Hopper. You gave us some great films and you will be missed."
